CBD is an acronym for cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is a chemical compound from the cannabinoid family that naturally occurs in the cannabis plant. It is one of 108 different types of cannabinoids currently identified in the cannabis plant. One of the best known cannabinoids in the cannabis plant is THC which creates a ‘high’ and is responsible for the cannabis plants previous notoriety. CBD differs from THC as it is non psychoactive meaning it will not create the high. There are wide ranging anecdotal evidence detailing the various benefits of CBD but it remains a largely understudied compound. For a greater insight into CBD, have a quick look at our blog post here.
